"Growing up too fast"

There was a time when kids enjoyed being kids. Today, even at the earliest of ages, children are partaking in adult activities with serious consequences. Similar to what we see with alcohol and drugs, sex is a very popular and portrayed subject matter. The movies, TV, the internet, essentially everywhere a kid turns he or she is bombarded with sexual suggestions. In fact, there are entire TV series marketed directly to kids dealing with sex – the egregious being The Secret Lives of an American Teenager and Teen Mom, to name two. Music is a culprit as well. Songs have always had sexual innuendos, but at least “back in the day” you had to be old enough to understand them. Today, it’s all about “How low can you go” and “baby let me love you up.” Kids are having sex as early as 10 and 11, with teen pregnancies increasingly on the rise. The concept of childhood is literally being wiped out. In my opinion this is a really sad situation. I wouldn't want my little sister talking or even thinking about concepts like that. Imagine as a parent being brought up in a certain demeanor of a respected household where you learn about things the age you are corresponded in and then you try to follow the same steps for your children but you soon come to realize that it is not favorably working out in your favor, well thank it much to the technological advancements such as Twitter and Facebook and even the TV. Lately the Television networks such as MTV, TLC and even ABC Family are constantly coming up with "children movies" that the majority of the time contain hidden sexual innuendos that we as adults never try to expose our children to. We should really try to leave the sexual suggestions and hidden demeanors to adults and leave our children to grow up at the rate they are suppose to and let them experience the stages as they go along through puberty because there is nothing worse than being rushed through something so important as that.
